RECENT NEWS: John has left Ibanez & has gone to Ernie Ball/Music Man guitars!!! Expect a 6-string & 7-string Signature model around the fall of 2000.

Sometime after the Ibanez Universe exploded onto the guitar scene, things got quiet on the 7-string front. But, not for long! Because there was John Petrucci, guitar virtuoso for Dream Theater & Liquid Tension Experiment. Dream Theater (since 1989) forged a blend of prog-rock & metal that no one to this day has come close to. But in 1994, his landmark 7-string playing made its debut on Dream Theater's Awake album, thus generating new interest & enthusiasm for the 7-string guitar.

Petrucci attended The Berkley School of Music, as did all the members of Dream Theater. If you've never heard this master guitar player at work...YOU ARE MISSING OUT on an extraodinary event! This man does it all: chugging rhythms, shimmering clean passages, beautiful legato melodies, & don't forget about his BLAZING fretboard workouts! Imagine the feel & passion of Stevie Ray Vaughan combined with the technicality & flawlessness of Steve Vai's guitar work...you have JOHN PETRUCCI!

Needless to say, personally, this is the greatest guitarist of all-time! Check out his guitar work (and guitar solos!) on Dream Theater's latest release, METROPOLIS PART II: SCENES FROM A MEMORY. Also, check out his side project, Liquid Tension Experiment's newest album, LTE2. It's a prog-rock & shredder's dream!

GUITARS: (NEW Signature Model from EB/MM coming soon!)...Ibanez John Petrucci Signature Series 6-strings, Ibanez RG7620 7-string (custom-shop, Viper neck w/ offset dot inlays, & custom 7-string version of the Dimarzio Air Norton & Steve's Special pickups), Ibanez Talman, Ibanez Acoustics

JPM GUITAR SPECS:
Dimarzio pickups have been direct-mounted to the JPM,more body sound, faster note response and greater sustain. A unique 3-way switching system allows the JPM's distinctive sounds to be accessed quickly and easily. In the center position the JPM's humbuckers are coil tapped and become two single coil pickups which work together in a humcancelling, parallel configuration. The JPM's Dimarzio Air Norton (neck) pickup has a low magnetic string pull, and a warm fat (but not "muddy") tone. The Dimarzio Steve's Special (bridge) pickup has a boosted bass and treble response, with the mids de-emphasized, giving it a sound that's hot, clean and open at the same time.
